If you're planning to have a natural childbirth, watching a natural childbirth video is important to inspire you to have one. In these days and age, probably most of us have never seen a birthing woman until the birth of our first child.

To us, the image of a birthing woman may be like the one portrayed by the media, which mainly consists of the image of women giving birth in hospital, with full medical intervention, complication and pain.

With these kind of images, it's not surprising that most women are nervous while waiting for their birth-day. It never occured that childbirth can be so beautiful, serene and empowering.

By watching natural birth videos, you'll be informed, inspired and encouraged to have a beautiful birth. Watching natural birth videos can also help to put your fear aside, realizing that childbirth is no more than just a natural event and is not something to be scared of.

I found that natural childbirth videos were becoming a support and encourager for me when I was pregnant with my first child and was pretty nervous about the birth-day.

• Gentle Birth Choices by Barbara Harper.
  This natural childbirth video shows six water birth at both birth centers and at home, interspersed with interviews with parents, midwives and physicians. This video is the most informative natural birth video I've ever seen while at the same time gives me the first glance of what beautiful natural births look like: intimate, serene and peaceful. It also highligts a variety of labor coping techniques which I learn from my childbirth course. In addition, you will also find information of the safety of out-of-hospital birth and how the routine medical intervention is not beneficial.
  
  
• Business of Being Born by Ricky Lake, Abby Epstein, etc
  This informative childbirth video was released just a few years ago and it's been quite a hit. Maybe it's because one of the producers is Ricky Lake, a famous actress and talk show host. This remarkable video shows how medicalized child birth in America is not necessarily the best for both women and children, and how money and fear play a role in turning a normal family event of childbirth into a medical event. It also gives good information on what are the alternatives of medicalized hospital births are.
  
  
• Spiritual Midwifery by The Farm Midwives
  This home birth video shows a variety of home birth attended by The Farm Midwives over twenty years, interspersed with interviews with midwives. It shows you that with a good birth attendant such as the Farm Midwives, not only natural birth can be a norm, but the impact of such birth on mother and baby's mortality and morbidity is remarkable.

If you want to watch an inspiring natural childbirth video, watch a water birth video. Although of course most birth happen 'on land', somehow, it's the water birth which has left me with the impression of a gentle, peaceful and beautiful birth. Well, may be it's also because most of the natural birth videos I watched have water birth in them. Anyway, that's why I went ahead and had three water birth at home.

Watch these water birth videos, and you'll see what I mean.

The first remarkable water birth video I want to share with you is "Birth Into Being: The Russian Water Birth Experience" by Barbara Harper and Elena Tonetti.

This water birth video shows five water birth, including one woman birthing in the ocean with dolphins. OK, the dolphin and ocean part may be too outrageous for you. But all these births show the best of birth. The ambience is serene and peaceful. The birth is so gentle and beautiful. The birth attendant and birthing family are calm and full of love. These birth are guaranteed to inspire you and allay your fear of giving a birth.

My second pick is: "Born In Water"

This natural childbirth video shows water births at a birthing center in South America and home births in Portland, OR. All the birth portrayed here are gentle, family-centered peaceful and truly inspiring.
